GSuite is the new name of the package formerly known as Google Apps for Work. This collection of online tools includes versions of Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Docs and other apps, all with additional features intended for business. For a monthly fee, business can get access to these tools. The focus is on online collaboration between team members working on a variety of platforms including both mobile and desktop.
Plenty of new features
If you've used any of these Google apps in their free versions, you may be surprised at the changed in GSuite. Additional features include Drive's quick access feature, which predicts the documents you'll need next based on factors including your viewing history and your schedule, and even a plain-English interface in Sheets that performs searches based on English queries. Admin tools allow administrators to set permissions on files and folders in shared drives, empowering collaboration.
A useful tool for small businesses
Google Apps for Work was already a handy collection of collaborative tools for small and medium-sized businesses or teams, and GSuite adds new features that will further support that goal. Easy access to shared resources from both computers and mobile devices is a key feature. Some users may find these apps to be on the simple side, but for many teams they'll be all they need to greatly improve their online collaboration.
